Proclamation of Solidarity with the Indigenous Peoples of Canada

To our indigenous sisters and brothers we wish to express the deep grief and sorrow in our hearts at the discovery of yet more unmarked graves with the remains of the child victims of Canada’s Residential Schools System.

 

In the spirit of Equal Opportunities West’s stated mission to be an inclusive, vocal advocate and support for all vulnerable people in our community, we must acknowledge our shame at the grievous injustices our nation has inflicted upon our Indigenous Peoples and actively pursue a path of reconciliation and healing.

EOW is committed to the UN Declaration of the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action and the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls Calls for Justice. We pledge our continued effort to provide an inclusive, respectful, safe and culturally sensitive environment for all persons in our care.
