EOW Announces Internship Program

If so, we have an opportunity for you that you do not want to miss!
Equal Opportunities West (EOW), in partnership with the Federal Government's Skills Links Program, is offering 12 weeks of paid training for persons passionate about supporting people with disabilities.
The program is equally divided between classroom and hands on training at EOW's facilities and all courses are presented by licensed, certified instructors and professional EOW staff.
Applicants must pass a criminal background check as well as a child abuse and vulnterable persons background check. The checks will be paid for by the program. A valid driver's license is an asset but is not required.
Participants in this program will be paid $11.65 per hour for 40 hours a week for 12 weeks.
Graduate will receive one year of job search and placement assistance from EOW.
Classroom traning will include:
First Aid Certificate, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Certificate, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHIMIS), American Sign Language (ASL) Level 1, Multi-Cultural Awareness, Food-handler's Certificate, Report Writing, Housekeeping and Sanitation, Medical and Physio Treatment Plan Implementation, F.U.N. Simplified: Fufilling Universal Needs workplace mental health and productivity, Employment Fundamentals, Resume Writing, and Education Planning.
Shadowing EOW Staff will include:
Assignment to a designated, experienced EOW staff members during all phases of their daily execution of duties and interaction with EOW program participants including:
Planning and executing daily activities, and assisting with any needs arising during those activities and during all aspects of their daily activities.
